None of these are my maunga. I don't whakapapa to any of them. They're the ones I grew up travelling past — three I've always been in awe of.

At school there were a lot of people from the East Coast, and all of them whakapapa to Hikurangi. We'd go up the coast a lot. I remember being on the bus and just seeing it — buzzing out at the size of it, knowing it's the first place in the world to catch the sun.

These came after the Taonga set — taiaha, patu, pouwhenua — back when I was still working out what the iPad could do.
